Interview Transcript: Carrie Lukas
1. How can Title IX be changed so that it moves away from the so called "quota system" that it creates?
Start by allowing interest surveys so colleges have a way to assess interest and change so the focus on accommodating *both* sexes interests (not just the "underrepresented" sex)
2. Even though Title IX claims to create gender equality, do you think that it is enforced more on male dominated ares over female dominated areas?
Definitely -- there is no doubt it is only applied when application benefits women.
3. Do you think Title IX hurts women as well as men? If so, how and why?
Yes, by distracting colleges from their core mission and wasting resources.
4. Has Title IX weakened the American society?
I think it has contributed to the problems in college -- the quota mentality rather than real learning and opportunity.
